Balor of the Evil Eye

The terrible king of the Fomorians, whose single great eye — kept shut by a ring — would kill all it looked upon when opened. It took four men to lift his eyelid in battle. His own grandson Lugh slew him with a slingshot through the eye, fulfilling a prophecy Balor had tried all his life to prevent.
