Gruagach
Hebrides, Scotland
The Gruagach, or Long-Haired One, is a tutelary fairy spirit of the Hebrides and Highland Scotland believed to protect cattle and livestock. Libations of warm milk were left in hollowed stones called clach na gruagaich. Such offering stones have been recorded across islands including Lewis, Islay, Mull, Tiree, Arran, and St Kilda.
