Meg Shelton

Woodplumpton, Lancashire

Meg Shelton, the Fylde Hag, is said to be buried beneath a large boulder in the churchyard of St Anne's at Woodplumpton. Tradition holds that her body repeatedly rose from the grave until she was buried face-down with the stone placed over her to hold her down. Stories credit her with souring milk, spoiling crops, and harming cattle across the Fylde.
