Son of Pwyll and Rhiannon, the only figure to appear in all four branches of the Mabinogion. Snatched at birth by a monstrous hand, raised in a horse-lord's stable, and finally killed in single combat by Gwydion after a war over stolen pigs. His whole life is the thread on which the Welsh mythological cycle hangs.
