Robert the Bruce
Rathlin Island, County Antrim
Legend says that Robert the Bruce sheltered in a cave after defeat and watched a spider repeatedly attempt to build its web. When the spider finally succeeded, its persistence inspired Bruce to continue his own struggle. Several caves claim the tale; Rathlin Island preserves a strong local association.
