Unicorn

Scotland

The national animal of Scotland — a symbol not of innocence but of proud untameability. In Scottish heraldry, the unicorn is always shown chained, because an unchained unicorn is too dangerous and too free to be trusted near a king. It was said only a virgin could tame one, and even then only briefly.
